Building a Global Backbone: Replacing Legacy Systems with SAP ECC

As a global player, Habasit depends on a stable, scalable IT landscape that can support both overarching corporate standards and the unique requirements of each local entity. Operating across a complex international structure, the company needed a solution flexible enough to adapt, yet robust enough to unify. In 2013, we joined Habasit on their journey to build and roll out a future-proof SAP ECC platform—designed to evolve with the business and deliver consistent performance across the globe.

Habasit’s aging Navision system needed to be replaced with a modern SAP ECC platform—built not just for today’s needs, but as a scalable blueprint for global rollouts. Our goal is always to establish processes and systems that work across a company's entire IT Landscape.
The project involved complex integrations across MM, PP, SD, and FI, alongside the development of a custom coil management module with graphical support for belt production. An implementation across 15+ countries added further complexity, with each location bringing its own challenges.

Furthermore, the project was a personal milestone for the PM Josźef Galuska —leading a high-stakes transformation at just 26, while growing into a role that demanded both technical depth and leadership under pressure.

The collaboration with Habasit began in 2013 with a strong blueprinting phase, laying the foundation for a system that would not only replace the legacy platform but also scale across global operations. From the outset, the goal was to design a tailored SAP ECC environment—one that mirrored the specific business logic and manufacturing needs of Habasit, especially in the complex area of conveyor belt production.
To bring this vision to life, a team of 16 dedicated ABAP developers was assembled, working closely with functional consultants and project leads from various partner organizations. This joint effort enabled the rapid development of a robust technical landscape that could evolve alongside the business. Among the most significant accomplishments was the creation of a custom coil management module—developed as an independent, fully integrated SAP component with advanced graphical capabilities to support production planning and execution.

As the system matured and rollouts expanded, the team transitioned to a leaner delivery model. From 2015 onward, a core team of five developers ensured continuity, driving the technical evolution of the platform while supporting deployments in more than a dozen countries. Throughout the process, the relationship between Habasit and the delivery team deepened. What began as an implementation project became a long-term collaboration marked by transparency, reliability, and shared ownership of the system’s success.

Habasit’s legacy Navision system was successfully replaced with a modern SAP ECC platform that now serves as the digital backbone of its global operations. With this new foundation, the company was able to harmonize core processes across dozens of countries—ensuring standardized, efficient production workflows from Europe to Asia. Hundreds of users rely on the system daily, particularly within production environments where precision and reliability are essential.
A standout outcome of the project is the development of a custom coil management module. Designed specifically for Habasit’s manufacturing needs, the module combines deep SAP integration with graphical production capabilities, delivering greater transparency and control in a highly specialized area. It’s a clear example of our tailored approach to solving complex, industry-specific challenges.
The collaboration itself has been shaped by more than just technical milestones. Numerous international rollouts and on-site engagements contributed not only to the team's deep system knowledge, but also to strong, lasting personal relationships built over time. Today, the partnership stands as a testament to what’s possible when trust, technical excellence, and shared ambition align—supporting Habasit’s continued growth with a solution that’s both resilient and future-ready.
